Picker Upper Clouds

When we sit still long enough the answers to questions you ask God present themselves in miraculous ways. Jarrod is part of the Volunteer Fire Department in Yoakum, he happened to be paged out while Jett was with him. I picked up Jett and went to take Jarrod's place in the hay field, raking hay for him. We did not talk much in the tractor I was thinking about Jarrod and his safety, Jett poor baby kept blinking his eyes. (The vibration and sound puts him to sleep every time.) While on scene at the deadly accident another accident was called in that a child had been hit on the highway. Jett overheard me talking with Jarrod and as a normal 5 year old he wanted to know everything about it. I did not have any information but was also contemplating what I would say to Jett if and when I knew something- should I tell him the truth and use it as a learning tool? do I say everything is okay? About that time Jett says look Momma, it's God's picker upper clouds, I looked in the direction he pointed and three rays of light shone through the clouds. My questions where answered by God without me even asking. Jett said Momma everything is okay now but let's say a little prayer, moments later I received a call from Jarrod that the child had survived. It's amazing to me how children have the ability to let go and let God and how Jett's observation eased my troubled mind. If that is not reassuring enough the song ,I saw God Today, was the next song on the radio.

GIANT

When Jarrod and I were dating we watched a movie one night, GIANT, little did I know it would have a huge impact on my life. Not only was I falling in love with Jarrod but James Dean's character name ,JETT RINK. I knew if I ever had a boy that would be THE name. As the story goes along came our boy and no name could fit better. The movie poster shows Jett Rink lounging in the back of "Bick Benedict's" car, I have often wanted my Jett to duplicate this photo but haven't gotten around to it. We had some guest down and they just recently sent me this picture of Jett, it is a close resemblance , ya think?
UPDATE
This is must be Jett's pose...Mom sent me this picture she had of him after lookin gat tthis post!

Wonder Woogie

Every parents likes to think they have the smartest kid in the world, well the rest are just competing for 2ND in my book. Earlier this year, right before his 5Th birthday, Jett had some boys over to play they rode bikes all over the back yard and garage areas.
We had been asking him for a couple weeks do you want to learn to ride your bike with out the training wheels? No- Momma , when I'm 5, was his usual response. So one of the boys who was over that day was already riding without his training wheels and I guess Jett decided right then he was going to also. He bent the training wheels up about 5 inches from the ground, from the back they looked like little wings. He then started off peddling and used the training wheels as a secondary balance. Literally two hours after doing this he bent them all the way up and yelled for me to come watch. Sure enough he had taught himself to ride his bike, all by himself!
If you look at the lower right hand corner you can see one of the wheels bent up. We have asked him many times , do you want us to take the wheels off, he says no but I have a feeling he will take of it all by himself!

Fishing-Who knew

Laney and the girls came down this July and it rained nearly everyday they were here. The sun finally broke through so Jarrod offered to take all the kiddos fishing. He went and got lifejackets for Landry and Harper and even picked up a little Spiderman pole for Harper. They all loaded up in the jeep to go to Long Ranch Jarrod, 3 kids, 5 fishing poles, and 1 big ole ice chest. Mom, Laney and I were just going to go out to take a few pictures and then go shopping. Needless to say I was not dressed to go fishing- dress, pearls, cute shoes. We drive up and they are having a blast.
I having been fishing twice so my"casting" skills are poor but o well . We ended up staying and fishing we caught a couple crappies and one or two small bass. I even caught my first fish- in pearls no less! Well that fish wasn't the only thing hooked that day, we went back on Sunday and have been back every weekend since. Jett, Mom and I even went out by ourselves and I caught a pretty good size bass that took about 10 minutes to reel in. Mom got one too, Jett likes reeling in the bait and has discovered if you put chewing gum on the hook perch will eat it off. Thank you Grandpa Long for making such an amazing fishing pier and stocking the lake some 20 years ago. So if anyone wants to come down ,let's go fishing!

Rodeo Time

Jett has started going to a few playdays and youth rodeos. He rides in three events the cloverleaf, figure eight's and the mystery event. He likes the mystery event best, it is usually the potato race or the stake race. He is riding "Chick Chick",he keeps asking when can I rope but we will just have to wait a bit longer for that. When ever he wins he always shares his prize with his horse, he wants me to put up his ribbons in Chicken's stall for Chicken to see.

I swear...

Kool-Aid makes these single serving packets that go in a bottle of water and for whatever reason Jett has just discovered them. By discover I mean he climbs up on the counter with his water bottle cuts the tops off and attempts to empty it into the water. By attempts I mean half spills on the floor so when you go walking by barefooted you get that great crusty foot feeling you know what I mean? Anyway I watched him "FIX" Kool-Aid earlier in the day , a couple minutes later he wanted to make some more I told him no, go find the other water bottler first. He goes off in search the escapee bottle and it looks like a FAMILY CICRUS cartoon ...mudroom, garage, under the bed, dog kennel you get the idea. He comes in my office "Momma I looked everywhere" I questioned and he says "I swear" I looked everywhere....OK so maybe I say that too much, oops it could be worse right?
